Follow the Process to a big exit

by on June 12, 2014

You want to build a company someone will be willing to pay a premium for.

How do you do that?

Follow The Process.

It’s simple, but it’s not easy.

What is the The Process?

Inspired by Ryan Holiday’s book, The Obstacle is the Way, The Process is focusing on what you  need to do right now.

Break it down into pieces.

Follow The Process, not the prize.

And when you get it right, even the hardest things become manageable.

The Process is relaxing.  The Process is order.  It keeps our perceptions in check and our actions in sync.

In order to grow rapidly we often rack our brains and have strategy meetings to come up with some mind-blowing new product that will launch the company into the stratosphere.  When we do that we take our eye off the ball.

We’re A to Z thinkers, fretting about A, obsessing over Z, yet forgetting all about B through Y.

We often feel stuck because the goal seems too ambitious, or outside of the realm of possibility.

You want to sell your company for 10x revenue but don’t know what to do to get there.

Goals are important because it sets the focus for everything we do.  But there are distractions and obstacles that appear that seem impossible to overcome.  That’s inevitable.

The process is the voice that demands us to act even if only in a small way.

Replace doubt with The Process. Depend on it.  Lean on it.  Trust in it.

Some problems are harder than others.  Deal with the ones right in front of you first.  Come back to the others later.  You’ll get there.

The Process is about doing the right things, right now.  Not worrying about what might happen later, or the results, or the whole picture.

Each company is different but the PROCESS to a big exit for EVERY company is exactly the same.
